Nuvoton Technology × NTHU Resilient and Sustainable Development Center × Taiwan Feng He Zi Association

On March 8, Nuvoton Technology, together with the NTHU Resilient and Sustainable Development Center and a local community group — the Taiwan Feng He Zi Association — jointly organized an activity in Donghai Village, Zhubei City, designing an experience of transplanting rice seedlings by hand. Over 70 employees and their family members participated, immersing themselves in traditional farming culture. Within a 0.1-hectare rice paddy, participants not only learned about food-agriculture education, but also personally experienced the labor of transplanting seedlings, forging a deep connection to the local community, and promoting and practicing the company’s ESG philosophy.

Safeguarding Terrestrial Biodiversity

Rice paddies are the largest artificial wetlands in Taiwan, and their ecological value goes far beyond food production, according to the NTHU Resilient and Sustainable Development Center. These paddies play important roles in flood mitigation, soil and water conservation, and the protection of terrestrial biodiversity. They provide safe habitats for waterfowl and aquatic animals to breed and find food. They often support vegetation typical of foothill-areas, and through interactions among species help establish a complete ecosystem. The Feng He Zi Association, bringing rich hands-on experience in friendly farming, taught staff how to cultivate using ecological fertilizers and farming practices without pesticides or herbicides, aiming to conserve water resources and nurture healthy soil. They introduced the spirit of harmony in “ecology, production, life” for a three-fold sustainable coexistence.

Investing in Environmental Education

Besides creating unforgettable farming memories, the event also built interactive relationships between the company and the neighboring community. Nuvoton Technology will continue focusing on biodiversity conservation and the inheritance of local culture. Through concrete actions, they give back to Hsinchu. The rice paddy, under the shared stewardship of all participants, will go on being maintained in its ecological, inclusive, green commitment.
