(CNA reporter Kuo Hsuan-yun, Hsinchu City, June 23) — National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), in collaboration with VisEra Technologies and local organizations, launched five new routes for the “Hsinchu Literary Walk” project today. These routes span the mountains, wetlands, and rural areas of Hsinchu City and County, inviting the public to explore the region lightly and gain a deeper understanding of Hsinchu through literature and tech-guided tours.

The launch event for the new routes was attended by Hakka Affairs Council Minister Ku Hsiu-fei, NTHU Vice President Lü Ping-chiang, and other guests. Ku noted that NTHU serves as a strong intermediary, connecting corporations and local groups to jointly promote literary tourism.

Li Tian-chien, Deputy Director of the NTHU Sustainable and Resilient Development Center, who leads the project, explained that the five new routes span both Hsinchu City and County. For example, the “Echoes of Gaofeng” route in Hsinchu City's Gaofeng neighborhood traces the footsteps of writers from the Qing Dynasty, Japanese colonial period, and the Republic of China era, highlighting both literary history and campus landscapes. Another route, “River Bonds at Xipuzi,” located in the downstream wetlands of the Touqian River, uses environmental education to inspire community river awareness.

Li further noted that the other three routes are located in Hsinchu County. In Baoshan Township, the “Green Gems of the Oil Fields” route explores the region’s olive and citrus industries. In Guanxi Township, the “Centennial Academy Cultural Journey” centers on the historic Luo Family Academy to revive Hakka culture. In Hengshan Township, the “Hengshan Wanderings with the Haizhu Poetry Collection” connects local poetic works to Hakka mountain landscapes.

VisEra Technologies Chairman Kuan Hsin shared in a written message that combining app-based guided tours with augmented reality games offers an immersive way to experience the local environment. He expressed hope that more companies will join in advancing cultural and green tourism. (Editor: Fang Pei-ching)
