To cultivate more sustainability-minded talent, Global Views Monthly (《遠見》) launched its annual Campus Leaders Talent Development Program in 2023. The third edition of the program in 2025 attracted 150 undergraduate and graduate students. Following a year of participation and achievement, the annual award winners were announced in July, recognizing 23 outstanding students from 17 universities and colleges.

Yang Mali, President of Global Views Monthly, noted that the magazine, founded in 1986, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Since its inception, Global Views has been committed to promoting progressive ideas and has long championed sustainability-related issues. She also expressed gratitude to the Global Views–CommonWealth Education Foundation for supporting the program for three consecutive years. Together, they have brought Global Views’ high-quality journalism to university campuses, helping students stay connected with global trends, understand industry developments, and strengthen their future competitiveness.

Excellence Award: Innovative Social Media Content Reflects a New Generation’s Perspective

The recipient of the 2025 Excellence Award is Wu Hui-ping, a student in the Interdisciplinary Program of Humanities and Social Sciences at National Tsing Hua University.

Wu creatively adapted Global Views articles into engaging and easy-to-understand social media posts by leveraging the unique strengths of different platforms. For example, he used dialogue inspired by the anime Haikyuu!! to illustrate the importance of psychological safety in teamwork. He also designed interactive quiz posts, such as asking, “Which soy milk shop once had a NT$50,000 bounty placed on it?” to introduce the story and inspiration behind Taiwan’s first semiconductor documentary, A Chip Odyssey: The Gamble of the Century. These creative approaches successfully captured audiences’ attention and encouraged greater engagement.

When discussing social issues, Wu also drew on statistics and academic research from professional institutions to organize complex topics into clear frameworks. His work explored thought-provoking questions such as, “Does using AI mean capable employees simply end up doing more work—or becoming even more overworked?” and “Why do companies constantly report labor shortages while many job seekers still struggle to find employment?” His articles concluded with his own observations and experiences, offering personal reflections alongside the aspirations of young people for the future.

Merit Award: Blending Personal Experience with Humanistic and Rational Reflection

The Merit Award was presented to Su You-chen from the Department of Chinese Literature at National Tsing Hua University.

Su’s writing combines a gentle literary style with clear and logical analysis, balancing emotion and reason to offer readers fresh perspectives on the issues explored in Global Views articles while encouraging thoughtful reflection. One example is his article “From Freedom of Course Selection to Course Selection Anxiety,” in which he shared his views on Taiwan’s 108 Curriculum Guidelines from a student’s perspective and highlighted the responsibilities that accompany greater educational freedom.

Drawing from his travels both within Taiwan and abroad, Su also blended personal memories with contemporary trends to examine urban development, tourism, and the integration of culture and technology. His articles covered topics such as Taiwan’s distinctive tourism appeal known as “Taiwan Sensibility,” the preserved artistic heritage of Chifeng Street near Taipei Metro’s Zhongshan Station, and the 2025 Taiwan Design Expo, themed around Changhua. These posts received positive responses across social media.

Honorable Mention: Distinctive Writing Style Enhanced by Strong Visual Design

The Honorable Mention Award went to Chang Chih-ling, a student in the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management at National Chiayi University.

Each month, Chang paired thoughtfully written articles with carefully designed visuals and striking photography, creating content that was both visually appealing and well written. His work demonstrated an ability to compare international developments with Taiwan’s experience while covering a wide range of topics, including industry, society, the workplace, everyday life, and sustainability.

His articles included pieces such as “How a Single Immigration Ban Sparked Unrest: Is Immigration America’s Next Political Flashpoint?”, “Resilience Against the Odds: What Zuo Mao Battery Reveals About Taiwan’s Industrial Transformation,” and “Redefining the Workplace: Rethinking the Meaning of Putting Talent in the Right Place.” These articles reflected careful reading of Global Views reporting and showcased his ability to communicate ideas with vivid language while giving voice to the perspectives of younger generations and establishing a distinctive personal style on social media.

In addition, 20 students from 17 universities were selected as finalists. Participating public institutions included National Sun Yat-sen University, National Chung Cheng University, National Kaohsiung Normal University, Open University of Kaohsiung, National Tsing Hua University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Chiayi University, National Taipei University, National Taipei University of Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, and National Taiwan Sport University. Private institutions represented included Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, Shih Hsin University, Chang Jung Christian University, Nanhua University, Ming Chuan University, and Minth University of Science and Technology.

Applications Now Open for the 2026 Campus Leaders Program

Applications are now being accepted for the 4th Campus Leaders Program (2026).

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Global Views Monthly, this year’s program will, for the first time, reward selected participants with a one-year membership to the newly launched Global Views Online Reading platform (valued at NT$2,160). Participants selected for the program will also have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes of up to NT$10,000, along with exclusive 40th-anniversary commemorative gifts.
