In response to global climate change and the momentum toward net-zero transformation, the College of Sustainability at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) and ADATA Technology (3260) announced a strategic partnership to jointly promote the establishment and operation of the “ADATA Sustainability and Climate Change Research Shared Facilities” research center. Through deepened industry–academia collaboration, the initiative aims to further connect government policies and public resources, and to develop concrete, feasible models for cross-generational sustainable development in Taiwan and around the world.
In his remarks, NTHU President Wey-Ren Gau noted that partnerships emphasized in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 17) are among the most critical issues facing the global community across generations. He stated that NTHU has long served as a key academic pillar supporting Taiwan’s climate action and sustainability policies, having accumulated substantial research capacity in areas such as climate science, energy transition, sustainable materials, and environmental governance. Through ongoing policy research, recommendations, and cross-ministerial collaboration, the university has continued to assist the nation in responding to international climate trends and net-zero commitments. President Gau further expressed NTHU’s honor in partnering with ADATA Technology—an enterprise that has long supported the university and places strong emphasis on culture, sports, and sustainable development—transforming shared goals into concrete actions through industry–academia alliances to meet the challenges of climate change and sustainability in our time.
ADATA Technology Chairman Li-Pai Chen remarked that ADATA has made sustained investments in the ESG field for many years and actively participated in international dialogue and action at the recently concluded 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference. This collaboration marks ADATA’s first formal involvement in the establishment and advancement of a university research center, demonstrating the company’s long-held commitment to sustainability while also affirming the core values pursued by NTHU’s College of Sustainability. Chairman Chen emphasized that climate change is a highly systemic global challenge; only by building on industry–academia cooperation and further integrating government policies and public resources can sustainability research outcomes be effectively translated into industrial applications, policy tools, and social action. This initiative, he noted, is not a one-off event but a significant starting point for ADATA to further deepen its sustainability efforts.
Chien-Te Fan, Dean of the College of Sustainability at NTHU, expressed special gratitude to Chairman Chen for regarding NTHU as a key partner and integrating the university into ADATA’s journey toward sustainability leadership. Dean Fan stated that the research center will not only work closely with ADATA to address sustainability challenges faced by industry and society, but will also become an important pillar supporting NTHU’s push toward a “Net-Zero Campus.” At the same time, the center will assist ADATA in realizing its corporate vision of supporting national and international sustainability initiatives, expanding the social impact of industry–academia collaboration and contributing tangible efforts toward a global, cross-generational vision of sustainability.
