Daping Creek, a vital source of drinking and irrigation water for Beipu Township in Hsinchu County, is home to the renowned Beipu Cold Spring, one of the county's most popular summer destinations. Today, the Beipu Township Office organized the Daping Creek Cleanup Event at Beipu Cold Spring, bringing together teachers and students from Beipu Junior High School, local community groups and organizations, as well as faculty and students from National Tsing Hua University's Center for Resilience Studies. Together, they took concrete action to protect Beipu's "mother river."

Despite the scorching sunshine on Saturday morning, the cleanup attracted more than 200 enthusiastic participants. Undeterred by the heat, volunteers worked together wearing hats and gloves while carrying trash pickers and garbage bags. They collected discarded bottles, cigarette butts, plastic bags, and other litter along the creek and its surrounding areas. In just one hour, they removed approximately 250 kilograms of waste and 50 kilograms of recyclable materials, for a total of 300 kilograms of debris.

According to the Beipu Township Office, Daping Creek not only supports the township's natural ecosystem but also serves as an essential source of daily water supply and agricultural irrigation for local residents, making it an irreplaceable lifeline for the community. Through cooperation between the public and private sectors, along with active youth participation, the cleanup aimed to improve the river environment while raising public awareness of the importance of protecting water resources and incorporating environmental stewardship into everyday life.

Thanks to the collective efforts of all participants, Daping Creek regained its clean appearance while demonstrating the strong sense of community and the public's commitment to environmental conservation. The township office emphasized that protecting rivers is not a one-day effort. By reducing waste, disposing of trash responsibly, and cherishing precious water resources, everyone can help keep Daping Creek clean and clear for future generations.

As Beipu Cold Spring remains one of Hsinchu County's most popular summer attractions, the Beipu Township Office also reminded visitors that Daping Creek is located within a protected water source area. Campfires, barbecues, camping, and littering are strictly prohibited. Visitors are encouraged to follow all regulations, pay close attention to water safety, bring reusable tableware and water bottles, minimize the use of disposable products, and practice the principle of "Leave No Trash Behind" to help preserve the area's natural environment.
