Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
1. Cycling is an eco-friendly way to experience nature and local culture better. 2. Students carry out environmental knowledge by throwing themselves into the protection of marine life during the beach cleanup on the trip. 3. We learn about marine pollution and ocean debris while recycling at the beach cleanup which further helps us value resources and reduces garbage in our daily lives. Every winter vacation, the NTHU Bicycle Club holds a five-day four-night cycling trip to the East Coast, leading teachers and students to understand the beautiful scenery of eastern Taiwan in a leisure and special way. The speed of bicycle not only allows us to get close to the natural and cultural environment but also shows us the garbage on the coast and the waste in the ocean. We initiate a beach cleanup to protect Shanyuan Bay, and hope to deepen the awareness of environmental protection by putting our thoughts into action. What we did might not be significant, but we believe that our effort will attract more people to be willing to get close to nature. We see the azure blue of eastern Taiwan on our bicycles and guard Shanyuan Bay with our hearts and hands so that the "Fudafudak" of the Ami people will continue to shine along the border between the sea and the land.
Results/Contributions (500 words)

While picking up the trash scattered all over Shanyuan Bay made us understand the damage garbage had done to the environment and started to ponder our relationship with Mother Nature. The realization that plastic waste makes up a large portion of the waste lets us understand that reducing and using recyclable resources are the two most efficient ways to solve marine pollution. Although beach cleanup can only briefly clean the shores , change can only be made throughout our lives.
