The 38th Yuehan Literary Award features seven major categories: classical poetry, classical lyrics, modern poetry, essays, novels, stage plays, and literature from diverse ethnic groups. The total number of submissions has surpassed 250, setting a new record and showcasing the vigorous development of literary creativity among students at our university. This year, nearly a hundred submissions were for modern poetry, marking the first time in the award's history that entries came from "across all departments and academic programs"—from undergraduate to graduate students, from short-term exchange students to international students submitting in English, all actively participated. This reflects the inclusiveness and influence of the Yuehan Literary Award on campus and reaffirms that literature knows no disciplinary boundaries. This year's awards featured 21 young and middle-aged writers as judges. Faced with the highest number of submissions ever, they undertook the heavy task of reviewing the pieces, but they unanimously affirmed the overall quality of the works and praised the innovative, bold, and eclectic writing styles of the National Chiao Tung University students. This not only showcases the younger generation's spirit of exploration and experimentation in literature but also leaves a literary imprint of generational resonance within the university, witnessing the encounters and dialogues among creators. In conjunction with the Yuehan Literary Award, a concert was organized this year. In addition to continuing the tradition of composing and performing classical poetry and lyrics, this year's event also arranged discussions between authors, teachers, and vocal performers to explore the interaction and interpretation between classical poetry and vocal expression, serving as a prelude to the musical performances. Furthermore, the concert invited award-winning students to share their creative thoughts, and featured a collaboration between students from the College of Humanities and the College of Science and Engineering in a dramatic reading of the award-winning stage play, offering the audience a beautiful time interweaving poetry, drama, and music.
