Abstract/Objectives
The College of Life Sciences holds an annual graduate student academic conference to enhance the level of thesis writing and promote the quality of academic activities. The conference is divided into two parts: a poster competition and a paper competition. The poster competition encourages students to organize research materials and practice writing research abstracts. It also trains students to orally present their research results within a limited time frame, which prepares them for their master's or doctoral degree examinations. Additionally, the poster competition allows students within the college to observe and exchange research ideas among various labs. The paper competition mainly focuses on research results that have been published in international journals. Winning students are required to orally report their research results in English. The competition is also a way to train students and aims to enhance their competitiveness to pursue international excellence.

The competition for this physical poster restoration. A total of 12 external committee members and 3 newly appointed internal faculty members have been invited to serve as competition judges.

 

A total of 86 students signed up for the poster competition: 16 from the PhD group, 53 from the Master's group, and 17 from the undergraduate group. In order to encourage student participation, the award ratio is set at 20%. For the 2023 event, there will be a total of 8 first place winners and 10 honorable mentions.

 

There are 5 students participating in the thesis competition. The initial review will be conducted by 5 directors from the research institutes within the college. On the day of the event, May 25th, the students will give presentations in English, followed by evaluations from representatives of each department's faculty.

 

This year's participating students have respectively received the Dr. Hung Wei-Li Memorial Paper Award, one winner and one honorable mention.

And one first prize and two honorable mentions were awarded in the Life Science College Paper Competition.
