The goal of this course is to explore the formal composition, media characteristics, content meaning, and style formation and inheritance of visual art through discussions on different topics, with a view to training students' ability to analyze and describe visual materials. In addition to a deeper understanding, you can better appreciate the meaning and pleasure of appreciating artworks. When you actually see artworks in the future, you will no longer just have intuitive likes and dislikes, but will be able to further explain and analyze the work, and try to use it yourself. language and writing to convey to others. The content of the course includes Western, Chinese, and Taiwanese visual works. The discussion of the works will not be limited to a fixed context of time and space, but will focus on the analysis of concepts and methods, supplemented by the teaching of historical background or related knowledge. In different themes, we hope to lead students to think about "the definition of art", "the relationship between art and real life", "the formal differences and interoperability of different media", "what techniques do artists use to present thoughts and feelings", "Chinese and Western art" "The similarities and differences", "How to appreciate or criticize the images and art visible around us in life", "How social and cultural background affects the generation and development of art" and other topics. There is no emphasis on theory, and the focus of teaching is on the analysis of the form and content of works. The writing training of facing the works directly and conducting descriptive analysis is also one of the focuses of this course.

Abstract/Objectives
This course is aimed to analyze the development of forms, styles, media, and contents through diverse topics, in order to train students’ abilities to describe and analyze visual materials. By doing this, students may learn how to understand the meanings and ways of appreciation of the art works, as well as introducing them to others.
