Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
Since the 1960s, Taiwan's society has become industrialized and urbanized, and the social structure has undergone rapid changes. A large number of rural populations have migrated out and concentrated in urban areas, resulting in the aging of rural areas and the decline of agriculture. The old urban-rural relationship is on the verge of collapse, the new urban-rural relationship has not yet been established, and the rural areas are still waiting for new vitality. In terms of regional development, Tsinghua University and the neighboring Yangming Jiaotong University are academic centers, and the science and technology industry of Hsinchu Science Park is an important pillar of Taiwan's economy. Although the two complement each other in the East District of Hsinchu City, they are close to each other. The closure of the surrounding countryside highlights the impact on the original urban-rural relationship under the spread of post-globalization and neoliberalism. The side effect of the industrial economy model is environmental pollution, and the side effect of the technology economy model is that social relations are highly atomized. At the same time, the proportion of Taiwanese people suffering from mental and physical disorders has never been higher. Between Zhuke Qingjiao in the East District of Hsinchu City and the surrounding countryside of Zhu County, the space is similar but there is no intersection. However, the pollution of the environment (including air and water sources), the injustice of land expropriation, and the alienation between people's hearts are the consequences that people living in this area must bear together. At the individual level, the rise of the urban middle class, the accompanying expansion of higher education, and the further educationism that deeply affects the younger generation, have the consequences of the aforementioned atomization of social relations and the disintegration of community-level organizations. . Younger generations grow up in a world where they are often surrounded by nuclear families and school education. They rarely have the opportunity to deeply and continuously participate in the community and understand the region where they grew up, resulting in the alienation of several generations from community organizations. Knowing and managing one's surrounding living environment through autonomous participation should be a natural instinct of human beings, but under the context of the double rupture between the city and the countryside, the individual and the community, it has become a skill that is gradually lost. Now is the time to make up lessons. The teachers and students of Tsinghua University, who have the greatest resources, should have the social responsibility to face, think and use actions to intervene in the land where they grow up. All this needs to start from entering the countryside and understanding the countryside. In order to rebuild the university's understanding of rural areas, the main goal of this course is to cultivate students' basic rural fieldwork ability through the implementation of rural-related projects, so as to recognize, feel and think about issues in rural areas and rebuild their understanding of the area. This course will be divided into different topics in the following different fields according to the interests of students.
