Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
As we enter the 21st century, the world is facing major challenges such as climate change, energy, and new technologies, as well as pre-existing issues such as food shortages, population burdens, wealth disparities, education gaps, gender inequality, and more. Taiwan is inevitably impacted by the changing world, but people are also actively using emerging technologies and innovative systems to propose solutions through interdisciplinary approaches. Therefore, the United Nations proposed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 to urge all countries to face future challenges and jointly develop cooperation and problem-solving actions. This course has three objectives: (1) to help students understand the development and relationship between appropriate technology and social innovation; (2) through issue exploration, visits, or case analysis, to assist students in thinking about how to engage in interdisciplinary dialogues with others in the future based on their own professional foundation and proposing possible responses through social innovation; (3) to make social responsibility a pattern and responsibility in students' future life and career.
