This lecture is hosted by Professor Wang Hsien-Chun, who invites Dr. Laura Pflug (Associated Researcher, Ruhr University Bochum) to give the talk, assist in hosting, and participate in the discussion.
Dr. Laura Pflug is of German nationality and her main research areas include Taiwanese studies, nuclear technology and technology transfer in East Asia, the history of East Asia during the Cold War, and the study of Chinese local gazetteers. Since 2021, she has presented on the relationships of nuclear technology exchange between Taiwan, West Germany, and Europe in the East Asian context during the Cold War at academic conferences. From 2021 to 2022, she was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange.
The field of academic study on Taiwan and West Germany's nuclear relations during the Cold War has few experts, and participants engaged actively with questions, continuing to seek advice from her even after the lecture. This event provided a valuable exchange of academic resources and positively impacted the quality of education.
