Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
To support students' learning and daily life, we provide student dormitories that offer safe, comfortable, and affordable living spaces. This helps students reduce the burden of off-campus housing and commuting, allowing them to focus on their studies and research. By offering affordable accommodation the needs of students from diverse backgrounds, we not only promote equitable access to educational resources but also provide a safe and friendly living space through energy-efficient design and sustainable management practices. This approach aims to create a campus community that balances quality of life with environmental sustainability. By fostering a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable residential environment, the dormitories serve not only as living spaces but also as important places for personal growth and social interaction, forming a positive cycle of learning and living.
Results/Contributions

1. There are total of 25 student dormitories, categorized into graduate and undergraduate dormitories. Students apply for accommodation according to their student status and the designated application schedule.

2. As of September 2024, the university has a total enrollment of 18,269 students and 8,438 dormitory beds, accommodating 8,060 residents. The accommodation satisfaction rate (total beds / total students) is 44.12%, which is higher than that of most universities in Taiwan. The occupancy rate (residents / total beds) is 95.52%. Except for a small number of beds reserved for students with injuries or illnesses, dormitory resources are effectively utilized to maximize on-campus housing opportunities for students.

3. Student dormitories provide accommodation at significantly lower costs compared to off-campus rentals:

 (1) Student Dormitory Fees

For shared rooms: NT$6,750–16,600 per semester, NT$2,700–6,640 for the summer term, and NT$16,200–39,840 per year.

For suites or single rooms: NT$10,940–27,800 per semester, NT$4,376–11,120 for the summer term, and NT$26,256–66,720 per year.

 (2) Off-Campus Rental Costs

For shared rooms: approximately NT$6,000 per month or NT$72,000 per year.

For suites: approximately NT$8,000 per month or NT$96,000 per year.

4. Starting from February 2024, the Ministry of Education has launched the "On-Campus Accommodation Subsidy for University and College Students" program. This program provides a subsidy of NT$5,000 per semester per bed for domestic students (general students) and NT$7,000 for students from low-income or middle-to-low-income households, aiming to alleviate students' financial burden of accommodation.

5. The general fee is free for low-income families; accommodation fee reductions are provided based on program and gender.

6. To promote energy conservation and reduce energy waste, the dormitories use AC card system. Students must use the card to activate the air conditioner and main lighting.
