Abstract/Objectives
"Hongliang Arts Gallery", donated by the Physics Department alumni of the Class of '73, Mr. Xie Hong-Liang, is situated adjacent to the large lawn on the south side of the campus. Designed by a team led by architects Guo Xuyuan and Huang Huimei, it will be a green building seamlessly integrated into the landscape of Tsinghua University. The architectural form resembles three boxes rising amidst the greenery, housing permanent exhibitions, special exhibition spaces, and collection areas. It will be the first international-standard modern art museum affiliated with a top university in China. It inherits the cultural accumulation of Tsinghua Art Center over the past 35 years and sets a new direction for the future of art at Tsinghua, enhancing the university's international visibility in the arts. The museum aims to foster awareness and engagement with contemporary art among students, faculty, and the local community, elevating artistic literacy, enriching the campus's artistic and humanistic ambiance, and embodying the spirit of art education in higher learning institutions.
