Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
The current challenges in the Tunghai region of Hsinchu County are twofold: the first is the erosion of urban sprawl; the second is the loss of Hakka culture. The team plans to introduce a "Community GIS" strategy in the region, using the map as a carrier to enable residents and related populations to digitally identify and recognize places by seeing the heterogeneity of their own land texture, thus effectively integrating spatial and temporal coordinates, emotional identity, and local knowledge, and thus engaging in a dialogue with the two current dilemmas of urban erosion and cultural loss. In this way, we hope to connect heterogeneous community networks, implement multiple translations of local knowledge, and explore the possibility of sustainable management by combining cross-disciplinary resources.
Results/Contributions

The specific action plan of this project revolves around the overlap between cultivation, practice, and field. Following the awareness of local issues, the project will link heterogeneous community networks through the "GIS Training Workshop Series", implement multiple translations of local knowledge through the "Tunghai GIS Map System Construction", and explore the possibility of sustainable management by combining cross-regional resources through the "Social Practice Education Support System Exploration". These three action strategies will echo each other and together they will create local possibilities.
