Since the project started, we have successfully supported several faculty members to waive the processing fee for journal articles. The library interviewed the first faculty member to receive the waiver, Prof. Chi-Chun Lee from the Department of Electrical Engineering, and his team at the Behavioral-Informatics & Interaction-Computation Lab(BIIC LAB). Prof. Lee’s research interests are in speech and language processing, affective computing, health analytics, and behavior signal processing, all of which are in line with NTHU’s vision of innovation and diversity. Prof. Lee expressed his gratitude to the Library’s assistance in the application process, as well as he is glad to see the University’s support of our research and open-dissemination policies.
In the coming future, the Library will continue to promote this project with events including interviews and online workshops/tutorials, so that more faculty, students and researchers can focus on their academic research without paying expensive publication fees.
