Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
The Objective of the project entitled “Electric Motor Emulator” is to design and implement a motor model and an electrical converter, which can replace a real motor for testing the motor driver and its controller. Moreover, it can recycle the power back to the grid, saving power consumption and achieving a green environment. This project is going to conduct for three years. The first year is to develop a motor modeling approach and implement an electric converter hardware. The second year is to develop the control software for the EME. In the third year, the main focus is to integrate the EME, bi-directional DC/DC converter and the grid-connected inverter to recycle the power back to the grid.
Results/Contributions
(1) Design and implement a 12 kVA elective motor emulator to test a synchronous dc brushless motor driver and its FOC controller.
(2) Create a mathematic model for the motor.
(3) Develop “Direct Digital Control” to allow interface inductance varying with its bias current over a wide range.
(4) File a patent.
