National Tsing Hua University × VisEra: Introducing Locally Grown Citrus into Corporate Catering
Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
Results/Contributions
National Tsing Hua University collaborates with VisEra to introduce locally friendly-grown citrus from Hsinchu into the corporate workplace in a relatable way. This collaboration features a small exhibition and group meals to naturally incorporate sustainable concepts into employees' meals, embodying the spirit of "supporting local from the dining table."
On the day of the event, a display of citrus varieties was set up within the company to introduce the background, growing environment, and distinctive features of Hsinchu's local oranges. This allowed colleagues to re-familiarize themselves with the often-overlooked aspects of local agriculture in a concise and intuitive manner, fostering a basic understanding of the land and the sources of agricultural products.
At the same time, the corporate group meals specially featured locally grown citrus from Hsinchu, integrating the results of friendly farming practices into the daily diet of employees. The implementation of the group meal system ensures that support for local agriculture goes beyond mere concepts, becoming a tangible and sustainable lifestyle choice.
This collaboration allows colleagues to engage with food and agriculture sustainability concepts during their daily dining without adding extra time burdens. Tsing Hua University plays a role in knowledge translation and connecting different fields, assisting companies in transforming the value of local agriculture into concrete and actionable sustainable business practices, while also opening up possibilities for future collaborations between more local crops and corporate settings.
