This project, "Gracefully Dancing, Soaring Together with Children," aims to enhance students' overall literacy in various aspects, aligning with the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, which was introduced in 2015. This goal envisions building inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities worldwide, emphasizing the importance of fostering local identity. Our project achieves these objectives through a service team (a rural education service team composed of National Tsing Hua University students) using their expertise and skills to implement bilingual and counseling programs.
First, the project focuses on improving students' bilingual abilities and communication skills. By designing well-crafted bilingual courses, we aim for students to gain greater confidence and expression in both academic and social contexts. This not only enhances their language proficiency but also helps them communicate more freely in multilingual environments, boosting future learning and career opportunities.
Secondly, the counseling program focuses on strengthening students' emotional awareness and interpersonal skills. Students will learn how to understand and manage their emotions, which is crucial for developing psychological resilience and social skills. Effective emotional management helps students stay calm in the face of challenges and improves their interactions with others, fostering healthy relationships.
Additionally, the project promotes students' self-awareness and growth through activities that enhance their understanding of their strengths and local cultural identity. These activities aim to strengthen students' connections between home, school, and community, allowing them to better understand their cultural background and feel a sense of support and belonging from their community. This not only aids in their personal development but also enhances their sense of social responsibility and participation.
The project also encourages students to give back to the community, thus raising their social interest and sense of participation. Through engaging in community service activities, students gain hands-on experience and contribute to society, which not only helps them understand social issues but also fosters a sense of social responsibility and service.
Finally, the professional knowledge and skills of the service team (National Tsing Hua University students) are applied throughout the project, enhancing students' learning experiences and advancing rural education. This practical experience provides valuable insights for the service team members in the field of education and helps improve the quality and accessibility of educational resources in rural areas. Overall, these benefits collectively promote students' holistic development and lay a solid foundation for their future.
