Abstract/Objectives
This course explores the meaning and scope of environmental education, with a particular emphasis on theory and practical application. It examines historical and philosophical perspectives on current topics in environmental education and the impact of school innovations. The course also studies national and local models of environmental education and analyzes their connection to contemporary issues of environmental literacy. Through case studies, the curriculum incorporates surveys, campus lectures, online resources, field investigations, and hands-on research projects to help students develop the ability to design and plan environmental education content.
Results/Contributions
This course is designed to introduce environmental education and related career paths. It includes learning and evaluating environmental education activities at Yangmingshan National Park. Additionally, students will participate in the investigation and lesson plan development for the Xipuzi Wetland in Hsinchu. By reviewing domestic and international research literature and the U.S. National Park Ranger Manual, students will develop activity lesson plans and learning manuals.
