Sustainability Lecture: From the Ruhr, Kumamoto, and Silicon Valley to Hsinchu: Can Environmental Justice Be Achieved?

Abstract/Objectives
An annual “Sustainability Education Week” is organized to integrate on- and off-campus resources and invite diverse speakers, with the aim of enhancing faculty and students’ understanding of sustainability issues and encouraging practical engagement. During World Sustainability Week in October 2025, sustainability-related lectures, performances, or workshops will be held, covering topics such as energy, the environment, and cultural conflicts.
Results/Contributions
In December 2025, a sustainability-related lecture will be held, featuring local sustainability action consultant and environmental advocate Chung Shu-chi, who will present an environmental documentary screening and lead a discussion offering an in-depth analysis of the history of pollution in the Hsinchu Science Park and contemporary reflections on its impact.
