To deepen the implementation of food and agriculture education in schools and strengthen regional resource integration, the K–12 Education Administration of the Ministry of Education commissioned National Tsing Hua University to host the “2025 Rooted in the Land — Greater Hsinchu Food and Agriculture Education Carnival and NTHU Social Practice Exhibition” on October 18, 2025, at the North Campus Lawn and the Wanghong Hall. The event combined market exhibitions, educational experiences, and multiple forums, connecting campuses, communities, and industries to showcase the integrated achievements of food and agriculture education and sustainability practices in the Greater Hsinchu region.
Food and agriculture education extends beyond the teaching of dietary knowledge. It emphasizes starting from everyday meals to encourage the public to reflect on food sources, production methods, and their relationship with agricultural environments. This carnival brought together schools, small-scale farmers, local revitalization teams, and partners from government, industry, and academia across different regions. Through in-person exchanges and cross-sector interaction, the event aimed to build a regional support network that fosters the long-term development of food and agriculture education in schools.
In addition to the sale of local agricultural products and concept-based goods, the event featured approximately 70 educational experience booths. Through board games, hands-on activities, and interactive learning, participants were guided to learn about milk production, poultry and livestock farming, and the connections between animal husbandry and the environment. Compared to traditional lecture formats, experiential learning helped bring food and agriculture issues closer to the public and deepened participants’ understanding of related knowledge.
The event also gathered significant educational and social participation. Nearly 1,000 teachers and students from about 40 elementary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools, and universities in Hsinchu City and County took part, demonstrating cross-generational and cross-institutional collaboration in education. Corporate engagement in sustainability was another highlight, with approximately 30 companies and nearly 1,000 executives, employees, and family members participating and supporting social practice and sustainable development through concrete actions. In addition, 120 values-driven organizations joined the exhibition, collectively presenting the rich diversity of agriculture, culture, and local characteristics of the Greater Hsinchu region.
