The team from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) developed a microneedle that detects and treats Staphylococcus aureus infections. They utilized the microneedle as a drug carrier for the antimicrobial peptide complex to achieve slow drug release, specificity, and safety in the patient's body. The team named it the SS microneedle, and through this innovative design, they aim to provide a more effective treatment for patients with Staphylococcus aureus infections.
Due to the pandemic's impact, the NTHU iGEM team was unable to participate in the physical competition for the past two years. However, this year, they were able to join the in-person competition, interact with judges and international teams, and fully demonstrate their abilities, ultimately achieving a gold medal.
