Abstract/Objectives
In order to respond to the trend of open dissemination and access to academic knowledge, and enhance NTHU’s educational reputation and increase visibility of scholarly research, NTHU Library has made Open Access Publishing Support Agreements with academic publishers. These agreements aim to offer Article Processing Charge (APC) discount/waiver for NTHU researchers when submitting their works to Open Access (OA) Journals. Our vision is to evoke NTHU researchers’ potentials, and further drive international collaborations.
Results/Contributions

Since the launch of the Open Access Publishing Support, by the end of 2023, 26 teachers or researchers at our university had passed the Library's OA agreement review. Additionally, numerous teachers, students, and researchers have directly obtained waivers or fee discounts from publishers. The teachers who have benefited from the APC discounts/waivers have expressed appreciation for the Library's support and welcome the university's support for research and open access policies.

In 2024, to further enhance the university's research visibility, the Library analyzed the cost-benefit of open access agreements and expanded cooperation with more publishers. Initially starting with five publishers, it has now expanded to 11 publishers, including ACS, AIP, ASME, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, IEEE, IOP, RSC, SPIE, and others.

In the future, the Library will continue to promote this project by organizing online seminars and educational training, enabling more teachers, students, and researchers to benefit from article processing fee discounts/waivers and allowing them to focus more on academic research!
