 Abstract/Objectives
This course mainly introduces the historical position of acupuncture in TCM treatment and its traditional theoretical basis. To test the correctness of their theories, we will study how experiments should be designed and the results of experiments examined in the scientific literature to determine which scientific models can be used. Next, two important questions need to be answered by the experimental results and the theoretical model established: first, whether there is meridian system, if so, what is its essence; and second, the mechanism of acupuncture. These two problems are the core issues that modern acupuncture wants to sort out.
Results/Contributions
This course is mainly aimed at students from the Faculty of Science, Engineering, Atomic Science, Life Sciences, Electrical and Information Sciences, also especially students from the Faculty of Humanities, Society, and Technology Management. The course will introduce the experimental results, theoretical analysis, model building, and specific practice of modern acupuncture in an in-depth and step-by-step manner. After completing this general studies course, based on the significance of system science, students will be trained to build their independent thinking skills from experiment to theory.
