Abstract/Objectives

This course is structured around the taxonomy of parasites, with a focus on those of major medical importance worldwide that pose significant threats to human health, along with their vectors. The curriculum is divided into three main categories: helminths, protozoa, and arthropods. Helminths are further subdivided into trematodes, cestodes, and nematodes, while protozoa are classified into Plasmodium, amoebae, and flagellates. In addition, the course emphasizes classification based on infection sites, providing a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of parasitology. The instructional content covers the basic principles of parasitology, parasite life cycles, associated human diseases, and treatment strategies. The objective of this course is to enable students with no prior exposure to parasitology to quickly gain foundational knowledge, while fostering their interest in the subject through the use of instructional videos.
