Following the 1995 publication of "Water, Wood, Flying Feathers: A Discussion on Tsinghua," the "Tsinghua Campus Bird Guide" is the latest publication on the bird species found on Tsinghua's campus, released in 2025. It includes basic information on 52 common bird species on campus. The large green spaces at Tsinghua provide a perfect sanctuary for hundreds of bird species and serve as an excellent observation site.
This session's camp uses the "Tsinghua Campus Bird Guide" as a reference, allowing children to connect with nature both within and outside of the book, to see nature, hear nature, and engage in dialogue with nature. Participants will also have the opportunity to enter the university library to gather and read literature related to environmental conservation. Through field investigations and reading, children will be guided to actively observe, think critically about issues, and discuss topics, enabling them to express their viewpoints through writing and oral communication. Furthermore, during this adventure into the natural ecology, the camp aims to cultivate children’s ability to seek writing topics, inspire imagination and perspective-taking, compare with their daily life experiences, and reflect on their attitudes. The writing content will encompass four main forms: description, narration, exposition, and argumentation, while simultaneously building the children's abilities in observation, understanding, critical thinking, and expression, helping them find a harmonious way to coexist with nature through words.
