Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
To address the imminent threat of climate change, a significant number of countries, including more than 130 nations, have committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. This ambitious goal entails creating an economy that produces net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. Concurrently, numerous companies have also made commitments to become carbon neutral. Taiwan, despite its densely populated environment, is actively dedicated to environmental protection and the fight against climate change. This research aims to analyze Taiwan's national energy policy, the increasing energy demand, and the role of offshore wind energy in achieving sustainable development from economic, social, and environmental standpoints. The transformation towards carbon neutrality can be facilitated through effective policies, incentivizing investments, and attracting international collaborations. The study suggests that Taiwan's offshore wind energy sector holds significant potential for driving the country's energy transition efforts. However, it is crucial for the government to address the current power supply challenges associated with offshore wind energy in order to fully capitalize on its promise as a viable energy source for the future.
Results/Contributions

This thesis has examined Taiwan's national energy policy, the growing energy demand, and the potential of offshore wind energy in achieving a sustainable and carbon-neutral future.

The research has shed light on the importance of implementing effective policies and attracting investments to drive the transformation towards carbon neutrality. The findings indicate that Taiwan's offshore wind energy sector holds significant promise and can play a crucial role in the country's energy transition efforts.

However, it is imperative for the government to address the current challenges related to power supply in order to fully harness the potential of offshore wind energy.

By focusing on economic, social, and environmental perspectives, this thesis contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and challenges in Taiwan's pursuit of a sustainable energy landscape.
