Professional guides will be arranged at the visited locations to help students gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan's development history and local culture.
Zordonis Castle
Chiayi's most dreamy Baroque European-style castle, Zordonis Castle, is also a sightseeing factory with beauty as its theme. The castle design incorporates several movie scenes, such as the Princess Kelly Fountain, the Baroque-style bronze sculptures in Brian Garden Square, and the stunning beauty of the dome. Visiting the Zordonis Castle Biotechnology Park will transport you to Europe in an instant.
Chiayi Old Prison
The Chiayi Old Prison is the only "Penal Administration Museum" in Taiwan. The prison buildings are well-preserved and serve as valuable historical evidence of Taiwan's long history of penal administration development and reform. Built during the Japanese colonial era, the prison has undergone several renovations and expansions after experiencing multiple earthquake disasters, ultimately reaching its current scale.
Hinoki Life Village
Built in 1914 (the 3rd year of the Taisho era), the focus is on the forestry Japanese-style dormitories, which consist of 28 historical Japanese cypress wood buildings, 1 municipal historical monument, Taiwan's only two Tudor-style buildings, and the newly built "One Heart, Two Leaves" building. Due to the emphasis on cypress wood production in Alishan forestry, the area was once known as "Hinoki Town." Later, with the changing trends in industry development, the area was re-planned and redefined as a park with forestry culture at its core, revitalizing old buildings for reuse. After four years of development, it became a distinctive cultural park in Chiayi, offering a new tourist spot that integrates history, art, leisure, and cultural elements.
Chiayi Cultural Road Night Market
Cultural Road, stretching for about 400-500 meters, serves as a roadway during the day and transforms into a night market at night. The streets are lined with delicious food stalls, offering popular hometown snacks like chicken rice, sausages, rice cake soup, Luoshan rice cakes, lotus seed soup, and square pastries. These local specialties are not to be missed.
Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum
The main building features three visual elements of Chinese ink painting: deep ink, flying white strokes, and shading, presented on the architectural form. The exterior blends ancient Chinese culture with modern engineering techniques, symbolizing the promotion of Chinese culture. It also represents the intersection of Chinese, Indian, and Persian cultures, weaving together a rich, diverse Asian civilization. The museum and the landscape bridge's design, made of two intertwined streamlined forms, serve as metaphors for the "dragon," "elephant," and "horse" cultural symbols.
