Abstract/Objectives
The Cimei Island of Penghu is a small island located in the south of the Penghu Archipelago. It possesses the characteristic of "no village ahead, no shop behind" while fully self-sufficiency. On this island, not only are there various peculiarly shaped stones resembling animals, but it also harbors the only discovered ancient Lithic Workshops in Taiwan. Among these features, the Twin-Hearts Stone Weir, crafted from stones, add a unique charm to Cimei Island. Through the collaborative exhibition with Professor Ni Chin-Cheng from Department of Environmental and Cultural Resources of our university, visitors can deeply understand the unique geological beauty and cultural significance of this island, thus inspiring everyone to collectively safeguard this precious land.
Results/Contributions
The exhibition, spanning nearly 5 months, takes inspiration from the "Stones" of Cimei Island, extending into three major themes: the Cimei Zoo, Cimei Lithic Workshops, and the life beneath the Twin-Hearts Stone Weir. Through on-site physical exhibition that integrates visuals, images, music, and books, as well as hosting two thematic lectures, we aim to lead everyone to a deeper understanding of Cimei Island of Penghu. This initiative further contributes to the preservation of Cimei Island's cultural heritage, and the promotion of community culture, enhancing awareness and respect for local culture.
