This course not only discusses foundational research methods but also introduces recent developments in anthropology related to communication, globalization, and environmental change. These advancements help students address new issues in the networked society, transnational migration, and environmental crises, while equipping them with the research methods needed for the contemporary world. We will teach research design, interview methods, data collection, data interpretation and analysis, and various writing techniques. In addition to ethnographic research focused on participant observation and interviews, the course will also engage students in discussions and exercises on material analysis, literature review, and online communities. These activities aim to explore research possibilities in emerging topics such as ethnicity, migration, communities, agriculture, environmental change, and digital media. Furthermore, the course will provide foundational training in research ethics, literature analysis, and thesis writing to support students' academic development.

Abstract/Objectives
This course introduces anthropological research methods and academic writing, with a focus on ethnographic study and analytical writing. Traditional anthropological methods are based on fieldwork, participant observation, and linguistic analysis. Since the 1970s, research has expanded to religion, urban studies, economics, and gender, leading to new methodologies. In recent years, media, digital, and multispecies anthropology have responded to globalization, transnational mobility, and ecological crises, developing new research approaches grounded in classical ethnographic methods.
