This course will examine the science and technology often referred to or applied in bio art (such as biotechnology, microbiology and botany, human modification and medicine, etc.), with practical operations such as molecular cloning, genetic modification, tissue culture, gene sequencing, and other experiments. It will cover recent important discoveries and advancements, introduce relevant journals, magazines, books, and biomedical databases, and use them as the basis or response for creation. The course will attempt to analyze artworks from a life science perspective and interpret inventions and discoveries in life science from an artistic viewpoint. Students will follow the teaching process of "artwork discussion → discussion on scientific principles and issues → experimental course operation" to gradually understand artworks and the biotechnological techniques involved, and develop practical skills in molecular biology experiments.
