Abstract/Objectives
The main structure of this project is a series of Medical STEAM education courses jointly developed by the existing STEAM courses of the School of Education of Tsinghua University and the existing global health and service education courses of the National Taiwan University School of Medicine. The field practice of educational services was carried out at Jianshi Elementary School in Jianshi Township. At the first year, the "Interdisciplinary Topic on Popular Science Communication" was completed in the College of Education, with Jianshi Elementary School as the field of practice. In the second year, the first robot competition will be held to stimulate students' motivation to learn Medical STEAM and help students accumulate learning performance. In the third year, Dr. Jung Tung (June) Cheng, director of the Department of Stroke Medicine at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, and the moderator co-taught a senior special course. And hold the second robot competition to inspire students to learn SDGs 6 - clean water and sanitation.
Results/Contributions
  1. Introduce Medical STEAM into the robot competition in the curriculum of Jianshi Elementary School and guide elementary school students to participate in the robot competition to stimulate students' motivation to learn Medical STEAM.
  2. The School of Education of Tsinghua University offers a Medical STEAM-related field practice course, the title of which is "Teaching Practical Issues Technology-based Handling" in cooperation with Dr. Jung Tung (June) Cheng, director of the Department of Stroke Medicine at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital Teaching and developing bilingual Medical STEAM courses.
  3. The Tsinghua University Educational Service Group will actually provide teaching services in Jianshi Elementary School before going abroad to serve as an international volunteer for the Medical STEAM course developed by this project.
