Office of Global Affairs, OGA:

  1. NTHU continues to collaborate with NGOs and international education associations to advance student exchanges, research cooperation, and the development of educational resources in support of the UN SDGs. For example, the university maintains long-term engagement with organizations such as the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) and the European Association for International Education (EAIE), thereby expanding its global cooperation network. NTHU has dedicated to build and strengthen connections with NGOs such as Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE), and the European Association for International Education (EAIE), and so on to achieve SDGs.
  2. In collaboration with the HLH Social Welfare Foundation, Tsinghua University has arranged for international students who are recipients of the "Taiwan Huayu BEST Program" scholarship to serve as English teaching volunteers at elementary schools in rural areas. This initiative aims to enhance rural students’ affinity for the English language through interaction with international students, thereby increasing their motivation to learn.
  3. The TIYA (Tsinghua International Youth Ambassadors) program actively responds to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by participating in beach-cleaning services in collaboration with NGOs. Through this initiative, international students are encouraged to engage in volunteer work, deepening their understanding of environmental issues in Taiwan while demonstrating the collective action of cross-cultural youth in protecting marine ecosystems.

student volunteering programmes. National Tsing Hua University encourages its faculty and students to engage in community service. During the summer, students from the School of Life Sciences and the Post-Baccalaureate Program in Medicine participated in medical volunteer services in rural areas. By integrating classroom learning, service activities, and reflective discussions, their work included home visits, guiding the elderly in physical exercise, and other initiatives. These efforts reached underserved regions in Taiwan, providing local residents with preventive medicine education and health promotion services.

Our institute implemented the 2024 Kaohsiung City Carbon Credit Application and Strategic Guidance Project commissioned by the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government. The project provided consulting and technical assistance to local enterprises in Kaohsiung for carbon credit applications, registration, and quota management, while also offering strategic guidance to municipal departments in formulating net-zero transition strategies.

This initiative aligns with the following UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

SDG 13: Climate Action

SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

The course is designed to help students develop diverse strategies for coping with and managing stressful situations, thereby supporting a balanced development of both mind and body. This course is highly relevant to SDG 3 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages).

Center for Arts and Culture:

I. Hung Liang Art Museum

By offering opportunities for student participation on campus, students can participate in activities such as museum exhibition setup and curation. Through this involvement, students can apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations, deepening their understanding. Additionally, these courses allow students to engage in community service, understand societal needs, and become more responsible citizens. The experience gained from working in museums also enhances students’ communication, organizational, and collaboration skills, which are beneficial for their future career development.

Center for Teacher Education:

student volunteering programmes

To cultivate future educators with a global perspective, National Tsing Hua University has partnered with the Taiwan Mask Corportaion Charity Foundation to launch the Mask International Teacher Education Program in 2024.

As part of this initiative, 18 students were invited to Ehime University in Japan for a ten-day school visit and classroom observation program.

The journey began on June 17, with visits to Ehime University Elementary School and the Matsuyama City Teacher Training Center. On June 18, participants observed physical education classes and engaged in lesson study discussions.

On June 19, the group visited Tenshi Kindergarten, where they observed early childhood classes, conducted teaching demonstrations, and exchanged ideas with local educators. The following day, June 20, they traveled to Kuma Elementary and Junior High School for teaching demonstrations and in-depth professional discussions.

On June 21, the group visited Misaki High School, where they participated in Integrated Inquiry courses and educational exchanges. On June 24, the delegation made a courtesy visit to the Ainan Town Office and took part in a fish-based food culture class at Jōhen Elementary School. On June 25, they attended a marine science lecture at the Mishō Culture Center and joined another fish-based food education session at Ichihonmatsu Elementary School.

This cross-cultural learning journey provided students with invaluable hands-on experience and educational inspiration.

Through immersive teaching observations and intercultural exchange, they return to Taiwan with broadened perspectives—ready to enrich their future classrooms with diverse learning experiences and make meaningful contributions to the advancement of education in Taiwan.
