In this initiative, we centered our efforts on cultural exchange and service learning, delving deep into indigenous tribes to conduct a series of activities. Each tribe's team leader collaborated closely with tribal members, undertaking various tasks including assisting with agricultural work, supporting restaurants and guesthouses, and engaging in cultural exchanges through home visits. Additionally, we organized haircutting and massage services with the aim of promoting healthy practices such as abstaining from smoking, alcohol, drugs, and betel nut consumption among tribal residents.
Through these endeavors, we achieved the following outcomes:
1. Deepened emotional connections with tribal residents, enhancing understanding of local customs.
2. Experienced indigenous ways of life alongside tribal members, including farming and other traditional activities.
3. Assisted in raising awareness of hygiene among tribal residents and promoted concepts of resource recycling and environmental conservation.
4. Documented and preserved tribal culture through home visits and compiling tribal data, including language, genealogy, and belief systems.
Overall, this initiative not only fostered strong friendships between our team members and tribal residents but also laid a solid foundation for future service learning activities. Moreover, our haircutting and massage services positively impacted the health and well-being of tribal residents.
