Abstract/Objectives
Center for Teacher Education of our school has four types of education programs, including preschool education, primary education, special education and secondary education. It has been devoted to the education and guidance of disadvantaged students in remote villages every year during the winter and summer vacations for many years. "Imitating the spirit of Schweitzer and supporting disadvantaged children" is the theme of this project. Serving students from disadvantaged families in remote rural areas by providing a good learning environment and opportunities, they can cultivate basic skills such as self-care, language communication, cognitive ability and interpersonal interaction skills. These abilities can help them adapt and learn in school. In order to improve the basic abilities of children participating in this project, the target of the project is schoolwork 、moral、 life and career planning guidance.
Results/Contributions

The summer vacation in 2019, 88 preservice teachers of our school took part in the Kinmen Schweitzer Spirit Education Service Project and serviced 582 local students in total.

The relevant results are as follows:

1. Expansion of service scope

In addition to Gucheng, Xikou, Xian'an, and Guning Elementary School and Kindergarten and Jinsha Junior High School in previous years, Duonian Elementary School and Kindergarten        were newly added. The service scope covers every township in Kinmen.

2. Conduct action research in accordance with the teaching content

Combined with the educational research method, preservice teachers were trained to conduct micro-action research in the classroom, so that preservice teachers can discover and solve problems while teaching.

3. The design of activities is rich, diverse and educational

With Chinese, mathematics, nature, and information as the key subjects, supplemented by other subjects (English, music, art, comprehensive curriculum activities, etc.), an adaptive cooperation mechanism was established, and rich teaching content was designed for the students who had been tutored.

4. Pay attention to character and local cultural characteristics

Arrange group activities and games to relieve children's and schoolchildren's learning emotions and pressures, provide emotional support and encouragement to make them study happily, and also design local cultural teaching activities so that children can better understand the characteristics of their hometowns.

5. Cultivate the social service spirit of preservice teachers caring for the disadvantaged in the region

(1) To build a cooperative relationship between our school and preschool education, primary education, special education and secondary education in the outlying islands.

(2) To cultivate the attitude and habit of caring and respecting, experiencing teamwork, and diligent service among our students, and at the same time learn to appreciate the upbringing characteristics of different cultures.

(3) Preservice teachers spend their vacation devoting themselves to the tutoring of disadvantaged students, realize that "giving is more blessed than receiving", and hope that they will uphold the Schweitzer spirit of sacrifice and dedication to enhance the learning content of the education major of preservice teachers.
