Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
According to statistics, the number of trees in NTHU is about 11,000, and the green cover area is about 40 hectares. If converted, it will show the carbon reduction effect of about 590 tons per year (about 1.5 Daan Forest Park), reducing the suspended particles in the air. The efficiency is 2,700 tons per year, so the conservation of campus trees is the key work of the school's campus environment maintenance.
Results/Contributions

1. In terms of campus tree conservation, NTHU attaches great importance to the prevention and control of trees with the most threatening brown root disease. A project budget of NT1.57 million is prepared for the prevention and control of tree brown root disease in the whole school in 2021; For beautification work such as tree pruning and maintenance, the annual budget for pine wood nematode and pine caterpillar control is about NT500000, and the budget for tree pruning and maintenance from 2018 to 2021 is NT2.4 million; for the plum garden, which is of great significance to the campus, the garden is also regularly reviewed. The plum trees and cypresses in the campus are pruned, fertilized, and pest and disease controlled to maintain the health of the campus trees and the sustainable ecological development.

2. In response to the overall greening and beautification of the campus, replanting and new planting of some shrubs will be carried out in 2022, the prevention and treatment of about 20 brown root diseases.

3. In order to take into account the implementation of engineering construction and the protection of the campus landscape environment, NTHU has set up a campus landscape environment review committee to review various cases such as the topography, landform, vegetation, building appearance and ecological environment of the campus.
