The Center for Interdisciplinary Science Education at NTHU has long been dedicated to science popularization education, designing and developing diverse themed curriculum plans, exhibition/demonstration teaching aids, and DIY series experiments in conjunction with the physics discipline. The curriculum content incorporates interdisciplinary elements such as nanotechnology, energy issues, and mechatronic integration, realizing the spirit of interdisciplinary integration and innovative learning. Our center is centered around the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) educational philosophy, encouraging students to understand, learn, and apply science through hands-on activities and exploration.
In recent years, the center has actively promoted energy efficiency and clean energy education in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For K-12 schools across Taiwan, we have organized science popularization activities and self-hosted summer and winter camps, particularly planning themed courses such as AI mechatronic integration, green energy applications, and environmental sensing, guiding students to recognize the importance of energy efficiency in their daily lives and fostering interest and concern for clean energy technologies.
During the summer of 2024, at the commission of the AU Optronics Sustainable Foundation, the center designed and produced the "Solar Battery Charge-Discharge and Storage Green Energy Smart House," which guides students to deeply understand the principles of solar energy supply and storage in an interactive and engaging manner. This teaching plan will not only be applied in the "2024 Taiwan Island Science Popularization Train—AU Optronics Adopted Carriage Science DIY Activities" but will also lead participating students to actually create projects during the "Energy Saving Cadet Campus Train Summer Activities" organized by the Hsinchu City Environmental Protection Bureau. Furthermore, from September to December 2024, we will hold up to 20 sessions of the "Solar Smart House" themed course in various K-12 schools across Taiwan to continue promoting energy education and sustainable concepts.
