Abstract/Objectives
Every industry has its own order and rules of the game, and the primary rule for utilizing others' works is copyright law. In today's diverse society, the use of others' works is quite common. However, copyright infringement incidents are frequently encountered in both campuses and workplaces, and it is often confusing for people to understand how to legally use others' works. Moreover, copyright law protects the economic interests of the copyright holder, yet many creators tend to overlook it, failing to understand the content of copyright law, which leads to the inability to fully realize the economic benefits of their works—a regrettable situation. In response to these issues, this course will focus on Taiwan's Copyright Law, introducing its basic concepts, subjects of copyright, types of works, rights protection, and fair use. The course will also incorporate specific domestic and international judicial rulings or social events (such as the "Goldfish Image," LINE sticker plagiarism incident, Gu Amo incident, etc.) to provide a broader context. This will help students gain a comprehensive and clear understanding of Taiwan's Copyright Law, prevent copyright infringement disputes, and foster a sense of legal awareness regarding copyright.
