Abstract/Objectives
This course focuses on the practical aspects of watercolor technique practice. Through various themes and techniques, it enhances aesthetic training and helps students understand how to seek solutions when facing challenges. It is designed to meet the true needs of beginners in watercolor painting, allowing students to gain confidence and satisfaction through the creative process. The course objectives include discussing the historical development of watercolor painting in Western art history and its "modernization" in the era of multiculturalism. The hands-on sessions primarily train students to master the characteristics of watercolor, develop keen observation of light, shadow, and spatial relationships, and achieve a well-balanced composition and color arrangement in their artworks.
Results/Contributions
1.The History and Development of Watercolor Painting
An introduction to the evolution of art history, including the styles and movements of various artists, to enhance students' understanding and exploration of art. This will help cultivate their aesthetic appreciation and broaden their artistic perspective.
2.Understanding the Fundamental Techniques and Aesthetics of Watercolor Painting
A demonstration and explanation of essential watercolor techniques, along with the unique expressive qualities and aesthetics of watercolor pigments.
3.Learning Composition Strategies and Application
Using various examples to illustrate the relationships within a painting, helping students understand the possibilities of light and shadow, proportion, and composition.
4.Exploring the Relationship Between Color and Light & Shadow
Demonstrating color mixing techniques, explaining the use of saturation and brightness, and encouraging students to observe details in everyday objects to enhance their sensitivity to aesthetics.
