The Graduate Program in Taiwan Studies held its 20th Anniversary Celebration and 2025 Graduation Ceremony, reflecting on two decades of achievements in in-service teacher education while bringing together alumni, faculty, students, and their families. The event opened with a documentary showcasing the program’s milestones, followed by a hands-on rush-weaving activity led by artisans from the Taiwan Rush Weaving Association, inviting participants to create small deer keychains and experience the richness of local craft traditions.
Director Liu Shu-Chin delivered welcoming remarks, affirming alumni accomplishments in teaching, publishing, research, and social engagement, and emphasizing the program’s role as a platform for lifelong learning among educators. Several faculty members across disciplines also joined in offering their congratulations. A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the First Outstanding Alumni Award to Mr. Chung Chih-Cheng, recognizing his exemplary contributions in both teaching and research.
Subsequent alumni activities and personal sharing fostered lively interaction between alumni and current students. The ceremony concluded with a hooding ritual for graduating and soon-to-graduate students, symbolizing the transmission of knowledge across generations. As the group photo brought the event to a close, the celebration stood not only as a retrospective of the past twenty years, but also as a collective step toward the program’s next chapter.
