Abstract/Objectives
The study was to construct a model of conjecturing teaching and teaching norms of each stage. Six kernel teachers from different regional areas, one teacher educator, and 9 graduate students participated in the study. The research result consisted of a published book related to conjecturing-based teaching model. For instance, the norms for generalization mainly consisted of: (1) Either “for all”, “as long as”, or ”any” was added in the whole-class-conjecture to be generalized to be true for all cases. (2) The similar conjectures were integrated into a conjecture. The norms for justification mainly consisted of : (1) to make connection among conjectures to be justified. (2) To be justified was conjectures rather than strategies of solutions.
Results/Contributions
This research was to establish a competency-based conjecturing teaching model of mathematics with five stages, and refines the teaching norms of each stage. The research results included improving graduate students’ research literacy, 6 theses of master degree, and 3 conference papers with graduates as the first author.
