Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
Mr. Hideki Take, a Japanese pop music critic, has been involved in the music industry for nearly 50 years. He noticed that during the 1970s and 1980s, when Japan had the most emerging music trends, Taiwan was under martial law and unable to access Japanese pop music. Therefore, he decided to donate his collection of over 18,000 Japanese pop music CDs to National Tsing Hua University to fill this gap in the availability of Japanese pop music in Taiwan during that period. He hopes to bring new excitement and inspiration to the young people of Taiwan. The CDs donated by Mr. Take span from 1970 to 2020, covering the mainstream of modern Japanese pop music and witnessing the evolution of the Japanese music industry and bands. Many of these CDs are demo recordings released by artists before their official album releases.
