Abstract/Objectives
Based on the basic books written in Atayal language that were developed in the pilot study, this study aims to develop advanced children’s books with more complicated Atayal words and sentences. Also, teachers’ teaching strategies and the development of children's Indigenous language were examined. A teacher training workshop was held. The workshop was planed according to the research results of the first year and a thorough literature review. Teachers were trained regarding pedagogical knowledge and practices related to reading Atayal books.
Results/Contributions
This study produced three journal papers and six conference papers. Eleven topics of books have been developed, each with 3-5 levels, a total of 43 books, 9 nursery rhymes, 3 traditional stories, and 1 curriculum manual, including cultural connotations, grammar, and activity resources for each topic. Among them, the first and second levels of 11 topics have been published, and the arrangement and recording of 6 songs have been completed.
The workshops have effectively improvement in the teachers' heritage language maintenance attitude, teaching self-efficacy, and Atayal rhyme and grammar knowledge.
