Abstract/Objectives

The theme of this course is basic oil painting techniques. Through working directly from observation and from still life, students can learn to master the characteristics of oil painting materials. The course content also includes applications such as oil medium, pigment characteristics, color mixing, and layers of glazing.

Results/Contributions

Students are required to complete a 5F work every week, master the brushwork characteristics of oil painting by learning the “alla prima” method, and practice the glazing technique to modify the color tone of the picture, gradually laying a foundation for their own oil painting creation.
