Abstract/Objectives
Overseas internship opportunities are the focus of the program in 2021. Students participating will have an opportunity to intern at the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) Knowledge Exchange for Innovation Center, or KX, in Thailand for 90 days. Mentors from both KMUTT and the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research will train the students in helping Taiwanese startups and businesses that are based in Thailand to expand into the country. The Taiwan Institute of Economic Research has been a partner in our program since 2019, training students for a month before they are stationed in a co-working space in Thailand for the remainder of their internship. Their work will consist of collecting market intelligence and collaboration with local authorities. 8 students have participated in the internship so far and a student has been selected by a local firm due to their stellar performance during their internship and is staying in Thailand as a full-time employee to assist in their business development. The program has discussing further internship opportunities with KMUTT and Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), hoping to strengthen the relationship between Taiwan and Thailand by also allowing more students from Thailand to participate in internship opportunities in Taiwanese academia & industry. Additionally, the program has also discussed cooperation opportunities with Dr. Roynarin, who serves as a professor at RMUTT, director of the energy research center and the chairperson of FT Energy. His wind turbine powered water purification system is interested in finding suppliers from Taiwan, we are interested in assisting Dr. Roynarin with his project and connecting Taiwanese firms with the Thai business community. We have signed a MoU with FT Energy, hoping to expand the increasing cooperation between the two nations in recent years.
