In “Entrepreneurship and New Venture”, other than lectures, group discussions and Business Plan presentations in the classroom, we participated in activities that promote both global and local entrepreneurship related interactions. This helps broaden the students’ experience, explore the available resources and build up entrepreneurial networks. The class helps both Taiwan students and International students to get better understanding of entrepreneurship, on theory and close observation on real cases.
Out of the classroom activities:
1) AppWorks Visit
AppWorks supported and worked with 400 seed-stage startups. The visit helps the students to have better understanding of how startups work.
2) Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) Visit
Under Ministry of Science and Technology, TTA is the key accelerator to support startups expanding into international markets. They have collaborated with over 200 VCs globally and with multiple corporates locally. This drives students’ exploration to go international. To begin in Taiwan, and then leverage globally.
3) Entrepreneur interaction
The entrepreneur of All Hands Taiwan, Daniel Miller, is invited to give a speech and share his experience to startup a company in Taiwan as a foreigner. His insights on his entrepreneurial journey inspired our multi-national students to work towards startup starting here in Taiwan.
4) Entrepreneurship Workshop with Stanford and ITRI
Teamed up with EMBA and ITM students, we presented Business Plans along with those from Stanford MSE department after going through Stanford and ITRI lectures on recent global innovative research.
