Abstract/Objectives

This course is designed to provide a macro-level overview of the historical landscape of modern prose, examining its synchronicity with history and its place in the historical context. The course breaks down the boundaries between authors and their works, arranging weekly classes based on "typology" and "thematic focus." Through in-depth textual analysis, students will gain a more sophisticated appreciation of prose and a better understanding of historical changes, human emotions, and other profound meanings conveyed within it.

Results/Contributions

1. Students will understand the stylistic characteristics of contemporary Chinese prose and establish the stylistic boundaries and appropriate boundaries of prose.

2. Students will explore the creative secrets of contemporary Chinese prose and grasp the degree of identity transgression and fictionalization in prose.

3. Students will master the aesthetic appreciation methods of contemporary Chinese prose and understand the various expressive techniques of prose texts.

4. Students will understand the important types and characteristics of contemporary Chinese prose over the past thirty years, establish the literary historical significance of the trend towards prose typification, and establish the creative value of various themes in prose writing.

5. Students will understand the geographical distribution and development history of contemporary Chinese prose, as well as the representative and important writers from Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

6. Students will conduct in-depth research on the literary essence of modern prose, exploring its aesthetic characteristics and literary qualities, revealing its deep-seated literary rhythm, thereby enriching and developing academic research on modern prose.
