In terms of innovation and entrepreneurship, according to THE definition, NTHU has 21 new ventures on campus that are still active since 2000. In addition, NTHU has set up an "NTHU Garage", which was established by 16 alumni who donated 10 million NTD to National Tsing Hua University and nurtured a secret base for NTHU alumni and students to start their own businesses. In terms of patent achievements, according to the top 100 ranking of U.S. patents granted to universities and academic institutions worldwide in 2021 announced by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), NTHU ranked 46th in the world with 56 patents, ranking first among all universities in Taiwan.
