Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract/Objectives
"The Hsinchu City Exploration Walk" is one of the events in the 2024 freshman series, co-organized for the first time by the library and Citilens, a local cultural promotion studio. The event invites new students to explore Hsinchu's old town and learn about the city's history and culture. By visiting key historical sites, students will experience the local way of life firsthand. This activity not only enhances students' appreciation of Hsinchu's culture but also fosters a greater awareness of local traditions and history, while highlighting the importance of sustainability and social responsibility.
Results/Contributions
The "Hsinchu City Exploration Walk" attracted new students in the 113th academic year, including undergraduates, graduates students, and international exchange students. This two-hour event, starting and ending at the Hsinchu City God Temple (Chenghuang Temple), explored the historic old town, First Street, and the creative Dongmen Market. Participants also enjoyed classic ice pops from the Hsinchu Air Force era.
The activity successfully deepened students' understanding of local culture, connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences. It sparked interest in preserving cultural heritage and encouraged students to appreciate and pass down traditions.
